I have never understood
how 'traditional' marriages
of the dim and distant past
were expected to work.
I could accept the binaries,
one of each gender,
and the follow up agenda
of obeying hormones
you were expected to deny
whilst having a child
and becoming a parent.
What drove me wild
was where the male partner
expected to be understood
by those around him
without him ever having to try
to understand himself.
