is always a pleasure-from the preparation
of the fruit and veg prepared from scratch,
and the spices to be added, through to the course
by course presentation, which in the process
gives the host control of the table without them
being viewed 'in charge', to the shared humour
in the ease of eating. I like the washing up
that signals the end of the evening too.
But always the part that surprises me
is how much an elegant meal will make
pleasing leftovers which improve
in the quiet restfulness of the following day.
