People Who Fight Like Hell

to get what they want at all costs
will always get some of what they want,
but they rarely get it all.
What they will get as well
is their own hell, made personal
from all the efforts
that got them where they are. 

I Have Never Sought The Prizes

in the lottery of life,
but I am glad I have been allotted my ticket.
All I ask is a good breakfast each morning,
and then some cheap and creative activity that engages me.
That I may prove attentive until the day ends.

Did We Invent God

whilst overdeveloping ourselves
as complex multi-tasking beings?
God is being who is omniscient,
omnipresent and omnipotent.
Ontologically speaking
that must be the ultimate in multi-tasking.

In more deferential times
God used to be the person
with whom the most able people
dominated others with,
and preferred to be compared,
and take cover behind
when their aim proved further
than their reach.

Man may be the measurer,
and God the ultimate measure
but I still say my life is no more
and no less than the sum of it's days.
