My Old Non-Life

I'll never understand why in the seventies and eighties
the people around me said that I fitted around them so well.
Was my obvious discomfort with myself really comparable with theirs?

Every lawyer knows that Revenge
is best served not just when cold,
but when it is presented as case law
through which to divide the people
who have been persuaded to see
the law as the solution to their problems.

Lawyers know that law solves nothing outside of itself......

Advertising

is the levy upon truth
which consumers are led to believe
pays for growth and choice in the economy
of the near future.
But actually  the adverts shrink the present
tense and add to our debts, by fore-shortening 
the longer term possibilities,
the better to make life-through-choice more vertiginous.
