What Price The Future

of the world when in the USA,
one of many countries that claims to be
most free, greatness = violence backed by
detachment and technology, until unrecognised
nihilism = forethought before doing down
the neighbours in other countries, and at home.

The government of my country
is attempting to renew it's mandate
where the wealthiest divide society
by how relative the poverty
in it is, where poor are encouraged
to define themselves
as worthy or unworthy,
by how hard they work
at staying in their poverty;
the harder they work the more moral it is.

Of course, their message
is more slippery than my analysis suggests,
but politics is so infested with sophistry
whilst pretending not to be
that the individual voter's suspicions
are all they have to hang on to.

I don't mind my government
trying to abolish more taxes,
abolish all public services
and public service values,
and privatise everything in sight.

I don't mind it if I am make to live on nothing,
as long as the gov't do not tax the fresh air
I am left to live on, and make it dirty.

Great Turn Offs Of Our Time (33) Groundhog Government

It is a truth to avoid when the public
recognise that their government is tired
and the proof is too easy to find for comfort.

First there is the setting of false targets,
where the government do not control
the means by which the targets will be met
and will not countenance this being pointed out to them.

Second there is the statistics that are framed
to show that the targets are being reached,
but the arguments behind the figures produced
more proves the opposite of what the government proposed. 

Then, to side-line all official opposition
the government find tame backbenchers
from their own side who will put out proposals
in the media, for the government to consider,
which everyone knows that they will not act on.

Then the government rediscover some old announcements
that they think everybody has forgotten about,
and put them out as if they have never been seen before...

These actions, and many more,
are the actions of groundhog governments
around the world, where every step forward
leads back to life the day, the decade, before... 

Wealth, Poverty, And Inequality

When Jesus talked about the poor
he knew that there were more of them
than could be fed and freed from debt.

He knew that government systems
would always recreate debt bondage
without seeming to. It is called economics.

But for those who hear his call,
feeding the poor is still worthwhile,
and they will always be out of fashion;
Prosperity Theology is not for them.

When the wealthy and powerful talk
of ending need, the need they most seek
to put an end to is the need to tax wealth,
and redistribute inheritance downwards.

Since wealth is such a blessing for elites,
such that it can't be divided, it can only divide
the elite from those they seek to represent
-the poor know that nothing could succeed
as well as wealth based hypocrisy.

The Hope Of Obscurity

Speaking truth to power
will always be difficult
when leaders compete
not just to be inconsistent
but to be inconsistent for gain
as much as they can legally hoard,
and hide from ordinary people.

But such speech will out,
and leaders need not doubt
that for all that they appear benign
they will miss the signs
when it is their time
to leave the world stage,
and embrace obscurity.
