Democratic Contrariness

In a world driven by the manufacture of guns
any government worthy of trust
would know better than enshrine conscription.
The only place that that leads is to greater opposition. 

What Value Honour

between opponents in a civil society
when the urge to revenge
outweighs the will towards hospitality?
Where the ready availability of arms
makes the uneaseful death of enemies
too much of a temptation to resist?
