The Ultimate Phobia?

'Islamophobia' and 'Homophobia'
are two terms among many
whose very trendiness
I struggle to comprehend.

The ultimate phobia comes
from cursing someone as 'stupid',
and making an ineptly performed deed
the sum of of the person.

There we act out our fear
of rational argument by ignoring
the differences between people
which multiply the diversity of life.

To curse and do down the intelligence of another
is to reduce your own to brute insensitivity,
and to increase the burden the other carries
so that it includes your contempt.

Such contempt is a living death wish.

Women And Maths

The world's first electronic computer
was built with valves in Manchester
in 1942 or so, to speed up the Allies'
efforts at breaking Axis Power codes
during World War Two.
But that was far from the first use
of the word 'computer'.

Before that male scientists knew
that women were good at maths
and pooled them in rooms
where they were set to work on equations
that were too fiddly and awkward for men,
in their status, to have the patience to deal with.

The room that the women worked in
was known as the computer room,
and the women were not known as anything.

It is odd how we discredit human beings
the skills they self evidently have,
but we are happy to credit machinery.     

The Arab Spring

is an idea cooked up by the Western media
to summarise protest from across 'the developing world'.
Due to both western disinterest and local censorship
the backlash against this protest has been poorly reported.
But now it can be made plain, in the many sects of Islam
homosexuality, like women's sexuality, is a powerful cause
for shame, since both threaten the myth of The Absolute Patriarch
by undermining him and all men from underneath by doing as they will.
It is perhaps inevitable then that the Islamic Military Police
choose the sexual abuse of arrested protesters of both genders
as their weapon of choice. The silent vacuum that follows the shame
follows sexual abuse is self compounding and definitively destroys
the individual's resistance to the state, and spreads the fear of arrest.
Thus the sexual abuse of protesters of all genders comes to justify,
and perfectly embody, the democratic deficit preferred by all-male oligarchies.

If Only I Felt More Blessed

The way Jesus said people should be when I hear anyone
attempt to yoke the complexity of modern homosexuality,
and sex being about choice, with a toxic and pedantic negativity
by selectively misquoting  The Pentateuch on same-sex relationships.
The better to reinforce a patriarchal nimby-ism in the name of forcefully
avoiding all choice. Then I would understand Matthew Ch5 Vs11 a lot better.
And I would know how much more I was a person of faith.
