We Measure And Flatten

the world through how share
the statistics that we hear hurled
by important people at each other
across a media, where
what the numbers mean
is only the start of the argument
about how to share our wealth
with people we never meet,
the measure of whose existence
is how much they suffer.

Our distance from the needy
is something we keep for our benefit.
The rich no longer have the loose change
to give to the beggars they pass on the street
-they are too detached in their security
and now they only use smartphones,
on which they store their visa details.

When being able to feel means feeling pain
for whatever reason, whether real or feigned,
then any and every unfeeling serenity
will always always be our route to insanity.

Uneasy Virtue

Recession happens approximately once every decade.
With every recession, and even between recessions,
the economy shrinks for many. money reprioritises
where it goes, making an uneasy virtue of being cheaper.

If when you become one of the many
who are valiantly resisting debt,
whilst pushing others there,
because stretched ends won't meet
don't expect others to thank you,

Because when we rely on others
for what they leave behind,
for others to follow, or find,
then what we leave is a shrinkage.

When Good Will Deceives Us

Good will should be for life,
rather than being seasonal.
For seasons become the reasons
for scammers to practice good will
by working exceptionally hard
at relieving ordinary people of the money
that ordinarily might have kept them solvent
had they the resistance to being oversold
that which they never needed in the first place.

Believe In Less, Believe In Society.....

The cry to 'broaden your choice of media outlets
and listen to the logic of the politics you dislike
to stop your media habits becoming an echo chamber'
is now that familiar that it has gained it's own echo,
as it resides in it's own place in the breadth of the modern media
where the message is heard and repeatedly ignored.

That said, I try to listen to some of those
whose opinions I dislike,
the politicians whom  I feel that
that I  always disagreed with,
though the word 'always' is a trickster there.

Everyone's memory and opinion
are always inconsistent
with what they were in the past.
I can't exclude myself from that.

And to others back then I now realise
that my politics revealed my weakness
-as one who had less I had more invested
than I realised in the politics of redistribution
to those with least-the politics I believed in.

If, as I did not realise back then,
money generates a cynicism around it.
So with my politics of redistribution,
downwards I also sought to share afresh
the cynicism that money brought with it.

There was no way to make sharing more work
without it  becoming believing less in other people......

Misadventure Finance

When a business becomes as big a burden
on itself as it disguises that it is
on it's employees and customers
then that company will be the last
recognise how it is about to be misused
as the kind of loss-leader
it has previously made other people
when their live would be simpler for them being slothful.

Their only other choice with how to be boss
and be reconciled to their loss-leadership.

The Religion Of America Is Insurance

Though originally it was the reverse;
religion was a way of insuring the near future
through controlling family and work.
'Legislating for the community' became
a low level human automation
via The Protestant Work Ethic.

Now there is no such thing as community;
advertising and consumerism have destroyed
most of what was the sense of individual self was for.

The future of work is now assured by robots,
the word 'robot' was originally Czech, it meant
'imitation-human machine that provided forced labour'.

With work so automated
then all sense of community
must also be mechanized.

Markets for rationing health
have to cover everybody,
the meaner the rations for the poor
who gain least from the work ethic the better.

Then community can return thru debt,
from making the poor credulous targets
for cold calls from insurance companies
whose main aim is to turn themselves
into the financial equivalent of a death cult.

One Of Many Cursed Things

that proliferates in this world
is the idea of 'Art that pays for itself',
and pays the owner/artist quickly
-inviting them to make much more.
When work pays well, more often that not
good work declines into less creative work later.

The love of money is no better for art,
than it is for a positively good life,
Where such love makes one life better
it makes many other lives worse.

Gloating For Profit

Something I resist,
with varying degrees of success,
is being cajoled by the popular press.
I find their search for the worst
in human life bad enough in itself.
But it is far worse than that.

I don't want to imagine the profits
that the national press aspire make
out of advertisers who support them
on the back of their reporting disasters.

There used to be rural traditions
of paying mourners in some beliefs.
The moneys were small and stayed local.

What happens when the national press
gets to work is worse than being paid to gloat.

The Offshore Heart

'Where ever your treasure is, your heart will be also'.
Put your treasure abroad - whether for profit,
or to improve the discretion and choice
with which the money can do to grow by itself
and however much you might protest
that 'I put my heart into where I live,
into what I do and the family I do it for'
but at best your heart will be hardened
through division. At worst it will be beached,
shrunken and left for dead on some foriegn shore.

Pretense About Debt

is what divides the have-nots from the haves
and sets the invisible line between them.
Many seem content at being sold more,
but what puts a person into one set or the other
is that the haves will frighten their debtors
into infinitely deferred repayment,
with the sheer size of their expectation.

Whilst those with less don't need proof
to know that they'll be cut less slack
and have to cut back what they cost.
And still those with less are more likely
to share with those who have less than them.
