To Be Political

without being astute
is surely 'good for protest'
but protests will only get
a would-be-prophet so far
before they get the wrong side of history
-the place where they have no agency.

Not to worry for those who end up there,
having intended to be somewhere else,
eternity is full of such misplaced journeys.

both take the waiting out of wanting.
And with time both reveal the limits
of 'being human', and if we let them
both can teach us how having less
can be quite enough for our needs.
