Preparation For Change

History is us trying to think our way
into times that we did not live in
as if - if we can stretch the words
- the times might have been our own.

Between the firm evidence,
the writings, paintings, statues
and the evidence in the ground,
and our imaginations,
there is more to be found
than we can account for.

Write we will, and so we should
as long as we factor in
how much future generations
will write their own histories
as different from ours'
as ours' is to past generations.  

On This Good Friday

I recognise that the church calendar
is different to the many other calendars
and clocks that operate around the world.

If the church calendar held more sway
than some of the less forgiving calendars
then more of our days would avail us
with time for reducing our enmities,
and seeing forgiveness in how we receive.

It remains up to us to make it that way.  

 

How Much Worse Can It Get?

Even pessimism mellows in middle age,
and the depths of perception of life being wrong,
or off balance, reduce our once youthful radicalism
to mere grumbles for what it was said the radicalism was against...

For Personal Growth

have the most fun you can conceive of having
in times you live in, especially when away.
When you return home you will arrive tired,
changed and in need time to reflect.
But you will also find yourself refreshed
in many of the places that quietly ached.
So that what was were once both comfort
and  discomfort zones have shifted.
It does not mean you will not ache again,
but the new ache will be in a different place,
and exploring it will set you on some new course in life,
the more to change you through times to come......
