Whenever I here the phrase
'Oh but that was so long ago'
applied to a time when I thought
I was a sentient adult then,
I want to take the speaker back
to the times they were born in,
so that they know what the adults
thought when they were children,
and even before then, because
the 'so long ago' phrase that describes
what they dismiss is living history
which was as real as it was lived
and it is what got us to the present.
