Every time I shop in a supermarket
I am politely asked at the checkout
'Do you have our clubcard?'
Each time I am asked I mildly regret
not having a glossy piece of plastic,
akin a donor card, to show them,
that paraphrases the Groucho Marx quote
'I would not be a member
of any club that would have me'.
