Now we can't even say to ourselves
'Stop the world, I want to get off',
though in the world we live in
those words seem increasingly relevant.
The world has stopped
but in 'the wrong way',
in the way we did not see coming.
And we can still get off the world.
But to do that we have to have the courage,
the guile for that singular and solitary act; suicide.
But we have the same chance to do that
as we have of mourning the dead and the dying.
