Freedom Of Speech

is now considered to be
the foundation of any free society,
with the United States as it's acme.

But, disappointingly,
when Americans speak
about 'the first amendment'
the amendment they talk about
is not even the first amendment,
in American law-it is a later clause
that amended an earlier amendment
when freedom of speech mattered less.
