We have to be a jacks of many trades
to make modern life work for us,
in ways that we are often shy about counting.
This was even truer for those housewives
whose skills in organizing households
went uncredited by everyone
who was so well kept in the past.
But queens and kings
can rarely do anything
without help from servants.
