Religions are like human beings.

When they accept they can't know it all,
get rid of the need for false mystery,
and somehow stop worshipping themselves
with all the technology under the sun,
then they can start to be true
to something bigger then themselves.

That is when we will listen to each other better.

Action And Understanding

When what we learn
is backed by violence
then whatever we were told,
whatever we mis-remember,
the memory of the physical force
will be what moves us most.   

A Good Trick

It is a good trick, if we can make it work,
when we make others care more for us
than we care for, or about, ourselves.

This goes well beyond the usual
adults feigning helplessness
whilst being very childish-
which they do without thinking.

This trick requires us
to make the balance
of care by others vs our carelessness
seem proper and virtuous
to those that the careless
expect to care the most.

It is all so very tempting.....

Great Turn-Offs Of Our Time (13)

'To make myself clear here.... '
is a phrase used by public speakers
who are desperate to make sure
that when later others argue their case,
what they say sounds muddy and doubtful.
Even though the argument is as clear as it can be.

Disconnecting From You Now.....

Whatever The News is about
it always features The Self Important.
And if the events it tells us about are real
(and not made up merely to distract listeners),
then they happen so far from where listeners
are to the events are that they don't, can't, know
that they are meant to feel disconnected
from what they are listening to;
by design, distance creates distraction.

So don't worry when you want
to turn off your television or radio,
or their online equivalent,
because their talk makes you feel
like a silent extra in your own life,
or a bystander so far from the event
that your views don't really matter;
your response is entirely natural.

Do something else,
whatever you like,
to return your sense
of time and yourself
to who it rightly belongs.
