Opacity Unlimited

When Secrecy and Pedantry combine
they are like fallen angels who give birth
to a powerful and impenetrable opacity.
Each works for themselves first,
and the other second.
Their task (which they don't discuss)
is to erase the line between overt and covert lies
in all they do, thus erasing all chance of transparency
in the minds of everyone below them, and with each other.

Lies

are the oldest human made I.E.D's.
When hidden and tripped, for not being seen
they help humans maim each other
and the planet more effectively
than anything other device
in the history of creation.

If in the next life the great
and good from now shared
with each other on art vs life,
from here who's conversation
would seem the most grotesque?

Andy Warhol vs Francis Bacon,
on who made the most creative use
of being mildly mentally diseased,
for massive profit in the Art Market?

Or Ayn Rand vs Edward Bernays
discussing which of them told
the biggest and most believable
lies through the 20th Century?

Other monsters will be available,
there will surely be more to come
who have not yet been born, 
but they will do for starters. 

History Is The Immurement

of the great and good by time,
through their deeds being mis-described
and where they are remembered at all
the deeds of the good are attributed to others.

The Bigger The Brain

the bigger the lie,
whether human or computer,
and the more powerful
it's means of transmission.
The more it multiplies.
The harder it becomes
to unpick the lies, later.

'The Invisible Hand of the Market'

flatters us to deceive -

tells us to labour and conceive-
and not be delivered-

so whatever we do
we are trim in the weave
of the Emperor's New Clothes.
