As A Mistake

I feel it is only right for me to wonder,
and want to know definitively,
for the good of others whose lives
are more clearly built on intent,
which part of me is the most mistaken?

It Takes Grit To Get Through Life

If you see the planet as your oyster
you may well see yourself it's pearl.
As you, do appreciate you are made
of the dust of the earth, made round
and bright, for being polished under water.
Reflect long and gently, with humility,
on the duller forms of sand,
who for lack of shine muddily reflect
each other. They are as dependent
as you on that shell, for their shelter.

Noblesse Oblige

If anyone should see the fires of Hell,

as a viable eternity, their first consideration
should be their own aptness for being sent there

in the next life, for how fitting they thought it

fit for others would do well there, 
and think first of who would send them
there, beyond any human agent.

I Used To be Passionate

to the point of being undiscerning about music.
That what I heard was always recorded didn't matter.
Being part of a paying audience for a band
that performed live simply never happened.

Now I am in retreat from music,
both recorded and live, and I often prefer quiet.
I don't even want to be an audience for a busker.
 
In the evening of my life 

I find that the gloaming chorus
of frogs and ducks and other wildlife
share the most transporting tunes.
