The Appetite For Entertainment

AI, when applied to science, to reading X rays,
and other types of scans of the human body
is truly intelligent and reveals what humans
cannot divine without the help to see it.

But like every other computer based prosthesis,
when is applied to the appetite for entertainment,
in a world reprogramed for maximum patriarchy,
it multiplies the male appetite for the works of the flesh,
and other imaginary relationships, until what it feeds
will run away with itself and take its followers with it.

Only when we take back our previous sense of self,
and reclaim a human sense of proportion, can we
better sustain what follows on from a limited intent.

When Small Is Not Beautiful

The smaller and neater
modern technology becomes
the easier it is to sell in adverts
and the less I like it. Screens I can't read
and keypads with buttons too small
and sensitive for me to use them,
doth not a happy consumer make.

The Secret With Machines

'Hold Your nerve' Is fine advice for anyone with a laptop
who is keen on using it to communicate with the world,
But it always helps to have another, more experienced,
person to tell you and show you how to hold your nerve better.

Every machine requires some instruction
and with laptops every learner talks to the machine
as if it was like them, human, when the proof required
to show the difference between the learner human
and the machine they learn from comes quicker than they think,
particularly when the human listens to themselves
and the machine shows every sign of being deaf.

Signs Of Greater Age (57)

With communications technology
every new advance in the devices
for the home allow consumers
to complete more tasks from home,
and complete them faster,
and complete them in transit
for those who are travelling.

But as a person of a certain age
you prefer the life where one piece
of electronic kit did not do everything,
different devices do different things,
and you would like to have some
human interactions as part of the deal.

We can adapt to many changes
from our end of the chains of supply
and demand, but increased isolation
is not the way to a brighter older age.

And by the, yes, we will repeat ourselves...

Who Wants To Live Forever?

Only the ultra-wealthy
who can afford the new technology
at the peak prices it is sold at
and have the business interest
in adapting with changing times.

When any ordinary person ages
they have to be stay sharp of mind
to simplify their lives and adapt
with the changing uses of telephones.

What was once facilitated by a wire
suspended overhead between two homes,
and a bit more besides, the chance to speak
to another person, far away from you,
is no longer what it was.
The telephone has changed,
where our perception of distance
has changed beyond all recognition
into anything but simple ease of use.

The telephone has become a home banking machine
for every possible transaction under the sun,
except simply talking into it, and being heard.

Who wants to live forever
when the technology makes
such an infinite life
one where we might speak
but we won't be listened to?

Hypocrisy Modernized (2)

Every adult wants a job
because it is the means
to owning their own home,
and one of best filters in life
is having your own front door.

Everyone knows
that as jobs get more automated
so so work loses its character
and sense of reward. Submission
to a computer system can never be fun.

But consumers marvel at the ease
and cheapness by which they live,
little knowing how what they have
is paid for in human stress.

So we all want the office job
that another can't have,
to make sure we get the house
that we can fill on future debt,
which if the money goes right for us
means we can forget that misery
is the foundation we have built upon.

Another Country?

In the western world we all know
how our pasts get washed away
by waves of peaceful technology,
so that how we was once amusing
and low tech, if not merely mechanical,
very quickly becomes false nostalgia
for future generations to feast upon.

Whilst millions across the world
lose much less and mourn a lot more
for being made to leave their country
of origin because the military hardware
which the rich supplies to strengthen weak
cleptocracies dictates their departure.

Technology 1 Representative Democracy 0

I am often astonished when I see government policies,
and how the powers that be see this or that issue, change
in apparent recognition of a changing the public mood.

So often it seems like the technology
used to transmit protesters messages
absorbs nearly all energy in the message
before said message reaches the target
-the relevant government department.

Which is why so little seems to change.

A Philosophical Question

Q-How many exceptionalists
does it take to change a light bulb?

A-Ideally none if the light bulb
is sufficiently exceptional
then it will do it by itself.
