October Moon - The Hunter's Moon

...looks like every other moon, after all the moon remains the same
and lends itself to many different foreground images, for contrast.
What changes is the activities linked to the moon that month.
Hunters in the wild like good light, just as their quarry
like the shadows to hide in.

So as the nights get longer and the light of the sun is reflected
more brightly by the moon, so the moon becomes
the hunter's helper, where only the hunter knows.
what their role is in the hostilities between hunter and hunted.

September Moon - Harvest/Corn Moon

The 2026 Corn Moon/Harvest Moon rises on 26 September. The modern names for our full moons now come from North America, from the Native Indian Tribes, or from the white farmers who make America one of the bread baskets of the world. The September 2026 full Moon will also be the named after Harvest Moon because of it's proximity to the September equinox. This is when the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator, heading southward. Because of differences between the calendar year and the tropical year*, the September equinox will occur Wed 23 September 21 at 1.o4 am.

*The actual time it takes for the Earth's axis to return to the same angle, relative to the sun, completing a complete cycle of seasons - aproximately 365.2422 days.

Moon Of The Month - July -The Buck Moon

So called because many of the names we accept for our moons
were given to us by Native American Tribes. They named this moon
after the time of year that the male deer grow new antlers.

Look out for the 12th of August, when depending on where you live,
you may experience a partial or total eclypse of the sun by the moon.

Moon Of The Month - The Flower Moon

The Flower Moon is the name given to the spring moon,
defined by the lushness of the new growth of vegetation
after the plain times of winter become distant memories.

Farmers in there more sentimental moments
write of the flower moon in their almanacs.

Whilst city folk, lost to the cycles of nature
beyond the greening of their cities may look up
in their quieter moments and wonder
at the trees and hear the  birdsong
as the birds sing louder to hear each other
in the parks over above the noise of the nearby city.
