Point taken about the baggage, cliches always weigh heavy. I am sure when reaching a certain age and disposition ignoring some matters seems better than trying to forgive/forget. Not everyone can create that place for themselves. The extension of 'to forgive' is forgiveness, the extension of ignore is ignorance, which does not refresh a person in quite the same way or have the same ring. One may ignore after forgiving, but being ignorant often does not help awareness. If it is any use, I do say 'use lightly' and anything used lightly will take longer to become cliche.
Forgiveness is a word with terrible baggage, and to forgive is very difficult.
ReplyDeleteIt's easier and lighter to ignore than to forgive or forget.
