When Lame Ducks Come Home To Rust

As president Trump has proved
with his winning his second term,
winning the presidency is easy
with a toady media supporting you
and with the money to buy the votes
you stop the hysteria you generate
being not calling it by it's proper name.

But no presidential candidate nowadays
has the money and the talent, the knack
for getting government to be effective,
in their second term. Even with his majority
events are against Trump achieving anything.

The Epstein files, in which Trump was the playboy
of wealthy New York in, prior to entering politics,
features often enough in todays media landscape
to sink his presidency as the lame duck of old news
that is looking for its proper landing place
and finding plenty of welcoming places,
where the news marks the nature of the presidency.

And Trump set this up well before
he thought he might lose what he fought for
where now, with the public know he has dementia
 - and see it as the most plausible reason for his denials.

Degrees of Unintended Narssicism

It is in the nature of every country
in the world to think it is the best,
better than any other nation state,
and better than every other empire.

Better to the point where the word
'empire' has become declasse,
devalued for how close to 'empire'
is to the old self justifying hierarchies
when slavery and trading in slaves,
were the foundation of the wealth of the few,
for whom everything was property,
for sale,
or for pompous displays to other nations.

'Empire' has been replaced
by the phrase 'trading block',
where each signee portrays itself
as the leader in the agreement
and other countries come second,
third, fourth, or last, in value
of importance, due to their inferiority.

The narcissism of the nation state
is something world leaders get elected for,
to update their leadership status,
the more to prop up how each nation
sees itself  as the centre of the universe

The best ex-leaders learn humility
most by what they do when office deserts them.

Fasten Your Seatbelts And Toughen Up For A Bumpy Drive

It is not news to say that most news
is bad news, consisting of reports
of earthquakes, pandemics, wars
and brutal changes of government.
The latest brutal takeover of power
starting with a vote, that after threats,
faked violence, and a rhetoric full of hubris
created a narrow but clear majority vote
for the most grasping leader, at his greedy height.

The new president, an old one four years out of office,
returned meaner and harder than before,
with 49.8 % of the popular vote, barely charged
for all the crimes he was well known for before.

For the second time he won by less than half the vote.
Now the world's media have to balance how to report
the angry new leader, as he rages against his enemies,
and even his allies, against their viewers' inherent sense
of wanting, and needing, to worry proportionately
about what they they know they can't control.

Still if government runs as it has in the past
viewers, readers, and listeners of world media
can count the days, 1460, 1459, 1458, and so on
until his last day of office. Then we can look in horror
at what remains of the levels of attempted humanity,
that the human wrecking ball has not destroyed.

Relative Land - Where Decline Disguises Everything

Beyond the land of the living dead
lies America, which has lied to itself,
and the worlds it has been part of,
for so long, that no subject under the sun
can be understood in absolute terms any longer.

When America crowns it's 47th president
the ceremony will have all the gravity
of a rigged Miss World beauty contest
for the elderly, where vanity bids the gerontocracy
to think they are young and what counts most
is how good the ritual looks on television.
Never mind the government
 crumbling behind it.
