Do zombies have a consciousness
by which to know that they are zombies?

Or would thinking you were a zombie
mean that you were not one, even when
your thoughts, and other people's comments,
tell you that you are? 

as it says in exam papers 'discuss....'.

Cold Comforters

Anyone can be comforted by pietism.
Sentiment is just that, common beyond comment
and many resist accepting it at face value.

Such sentimentality also avoids recognition
until it has to surface, then it is obvious.
What becomes even clearer after that
are the limits attached to such comfort.
It always fails the spirits of the truly afflicted.

That is when we feel that our support
is like that of those who comforted Job
who failed him when they could not prove
to him the truth of what knew was his virtue.

Excuses Have Their Uses....

The point about excuses
is that those who use them
are usually slow to realise
when the excuses start to use them.

And for the people not seeing it,
the process becomes irreversible....
  

The Urge To Live

is quite resistible,
but too few people
are resisting this urge
with sufficient zeal
for their resistance
to have any effect.  

Why Is It Dangerous To Believe In Aliens?

Because if you live in mainstream America,
where television peddles such fantasies as 'normal',
then the salesmen in gun shops will sell high velocity weaponry
by telling you that not only are those aliens real,
but they are out to get you. The aliens that is,
not the salesmen-though they have agendas too.

The hardware that is sold sells on the basis
that when the aliens find you, then powerful guns
will be your only means fit for halting the progress
of these dangerous foreigners from outer space.
If you don't believe me then look at this.

Selling guns through the fear of meeting people
that you will never meet-because they don't exist-
is so far beyond belief it is unbelievable; the delux twist
on the self fulfilling prophesy that is 'The Zombie Apocalypse'.

What nobody has yet devised is a Hollywood entertainment
where the aliens manufacture guns, selling them with the strapline
'Because other people are the aliens... '. Who would know
what to believe about whom if such a film were it made?

Another Jerermiad....

With possessiveness I never know, which comes first.
The jealousy? Or the lies? But in whichever order they arrive
the result is always more of the same. A sinking spiral
where one feeds into the other which ends the death of trust.

Good Timing

The difficulty of being a scapegoat
is that whilst they might know
that their exit will be permanent
they never know when to take their leave. 

In These Days

of shrunken economies, declining trust
and deals where we normalise
covertly double crossing others,
all to make them the loss leaders
where we also have to hide
our profit as loss, many are stressed
-literally weak of heart
and afraid to die from their anger.

Oscar Wilde had the best advice
-hold your peace;
'Revenge is a dish, best served cold'.
