The Entropy Of Belief

Saints were once living people
who's lives became stories of being vehicles
for miracles and martyrdom,
the recounting of which became legends
(narratives with the reality removed)
the oral transmission of which renewed human hope.

The lives of the saints were later written down
and  finally replaced the gods as subjects for statues.
The life that was once more than the sum of it's parts
in the telling became in words and stone the hope of petrification.
